Tailored from the First Moment

At Hendersons Bespoke Tailors, the journey to creating your bespoke garment begins long before the first stitch. Working strictly by appointment, we welcome you to our private showroom in Mapperley or to your home or office, if preferred.

Each appointment begins with a relaxed conversation over a cup of English tea or coffee, where you’ll be personally greeted by Abel Henderson. This is your time to share your ideas, your occasion, and your style preferences in an unhurried, traditional setting.

Bringing Your Vision to Life

Creating a truly bespoke garment is an art form. That’s why we never rush the process. We take the time to get to know you — your posture, your preferences, your personality — and combine this with decades of English tailoring expertise.

Once we understand the look and feel you want to achieve, we’ll begin sketching your design together — translating your ideas into a unique bespoke garment, made entirely for you.

Choosing Your Cloth

Next, we guide you through our carefully curated collection of premium English cloths. From lightweight linens and wool flannels to Scottish tweeds and Huddersfield-milled worsteds, we’ll help you select a fabric that suits the occasion, season, and your personal style.

This is a tactile, visual part of the process — where tradition and taste come together in the details.

Precise Measurements, Personal Fit

With your cloth selected, we take detailed measurements and note your preferences for fit and feel. We’ll discuss how you like your garments to sit and move — because every detail matters when crafting something truly personal.

Our experienced eye ensures we capture everything required to create a silhouette that feels as good as it looks.

Basted Fittings & Refinement

Up to two traditional basted fittings are included in the process. These fittings — where your garment is loosely constructed using white stitching — allow us to assess fit, posture, comfort, and proportion before final tailoring begins.

Your first basted fitting is usually ready around six weeks after your initial consultation. We’ll contact you to arrange the appointment, or book in a date during your first visit if you prefer.

The entire process typically takes around 16 weeks from consultation to completion.
