Abel went on to join the iconic British brand Austin Reed, where he was introduced to made-to-measure tailoring, his first client being none other than Lord Denning at the Tunbridge Wells branch.
By age 26, Abel had opened his own high-end menswear boutique, where bespoke tailoring quickly became the core of his business. It wasn’t long before he opened a dedicated bespoke showroom in Harrogate, Yorkshire — welcoming clients from across the UK and making regular visits to London.
Through hands-on learning with Yorkshire’s master tailors and longstanding relationships with Huddersfield’s historic cloth merchants, Abel honed his craft to the highest standards — eventually opening a new showroom in Nottingham.
A Shared Love of Craft
Truth’s grandfather and uncle were shoemakers, and her mother hand-stitched all her children’s clothing, a talented seamstress and expert machinist known for her precision and care. That heritage now continues through Truth’s hands-on involvement in the design and tailoring process, where her finesse and creativity bring an added layer of refinement to every commission.

Now based in Mapperley, Nottingham, Abel and Truth run Hendersons Bespoke Tailors together — offering private, appointment-only at their welcoming showroom, as well as home or office visits for clients who prefer the convenience.
